Excellent article! Our tastes overlap considerably. In particular, I also appreciate James Burke. I can’t help but compare Connections to Sagan’s Cosmos (TV), at least in the way the two programs both inform and inspire me. If you’re not already aware of it, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8_xPU5epJddRABXqJ5h5G0dk-XGtA5cZ. CalTech has shared on YouTube their excellent introductory physics program, The Mechanical Universe. I was introduced to this program as an undergrad in the late 80s. Given the foundational nature of the material, it has held up well over the decades since its production. Highly recommend it!

    • Thank you, Jonathan.

I do indeed remember Carl Sagan’s excellent and highly-praised Cosmos; as is often the case with such things, I remember it being better than the sequel/remake with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, although that might in part be nostalgia. (I remember the original Connections being better than Connections II, although that might be because the sequel was shorter and repeated a lot of the material from the original in a more compact format.)

And thank you for the link to the physics program.
